New Life, NEW S H O E S

Life = Chocolates?? Nay, I say strawberry n cream w scones! It's the heart afraid of breaking that never learns to dance It's the dream afraid of walking that never takes the chance It's the one who won't be taken who cannot seem to give And the soul afraid of dying that never learns to live

Bad Habits

Break your bad habits
If your work performance is dipping, perhaps there are areas in your work behaviour that need to be identified and improved on MORE often than not, during the first few weeks in your job, you may go out of your way to make a good impression and convince the boss that you really are a “model worker”.
But once you have been on the job for a little while, it is easy to get lulled into a false sense of security, get complacent and let your standards slide. After a few months, it just does not seem to matter if you arrive for work a little late, take an extra 15 minutes for your lunch break, or spend half an hour gossiping with colleagues when you really ought to be getting on with that extremely important project.
If your slacking and sliding off are affecting your work day in, day out, then it would not be too long before your boss notices, and that could seriously damage your career prospects.
So, whether you are starting a new job and do not want to repeat past mistakes, or simply want to progress more in your current role, it is always worth putting your own behaviour under the microscope to identify and address any potential problems.
Unless you really are the perfect employee, it should not take too much soul-searching to find those areas you can polish up in order to improve your overall performance.
Research suggests that most people are quite good at identifying their weaknesses. Surveys in Britain find that “missing deadlines” is top on the list of habits that employees want to change. Other habits include never returning phone calls, going to work with a hangover, gossiping about colleagues, and lying about whose turn it is to make the tea.
Even if you are not in the habit of helping yourself to envelopes or ducking out of getting the office coffee, there are other changes you could make.
Perhaps your timekeeping is not what it should be, or you spend too much time organising your social life over the company’s e-mail system or on the office phone.
Another common failing is moaning. While you need to let off steam once in a while, too much whining can lead to a very negative workplace. However, realising you have bad habits is one thing. Kicking them is another. In order to make a permanent change, you need planning as well as willpower.
Be realistic about what you can achieve. Do not set yourself impossible targets, and do not be too hard on yourself if you occasionally fall back into old ways. You could also try to persuade another colleague to give up one of his bad habits as well, so you can support each other.
If you do manage to kick your habits, there could be some major benefits. Even making small changes to your working practices can have a big impact on your productivity, and if the boss notices the effort that you are making, it could lead to a raise or a promotion.
But even if that does not happen straight away, you may find that by putting more into your job, you get more out of it. And if you are enjoying your job, then those old, time-wasting habits may not seem so tempting to you any more.

Shopping

Shopping =Shar pin =Buying Blindly (in mandarin) Different blog mode today.......
Went leisure shopping with 2 girlfriends. Been a long long time since I'm felt so shop-liberated. It always kinda rush shop for me. First, saw something on way home from work or during lunch. Second, go straight to target and get it!
Didn't buy alot actually, end up with good bargains for my usual frangrance at DFS (20% discount cos my friend a crew.....kaka). And bought a mint containter that comes with a mirror too! Cool!
Saw a pair of ferra shoes going on 30% plus 20% additional but still cost a good S$300 plus. Hmm, worth it? KIV. Been my goal to get a ferra since I started working. Kinda influenced by my first boss, who is not only power rich but a rich tai tai as well and she happened to own lotsa ferras. Another one owned lotsa pradas....younger version.
Question is :What if your first pair of ferra got scratched and drenched in the rain? Phew, glad that I did not buy it on impulse and 2 pals for not encouraging the desire further. Thanks!
Arrived home at 8plus and had a sudden attack of gastrics. Strange as I did not skip any meals today and do you know MacD's milkshake is back in action? Had one strawberry, rich and creamy.
Something is wrong with me this week. Been having dizzy spells, gastrics and nausea feeling but still going on strong mentally though. One last good thing that happened. Thank God for an overseas opportunity received over the email. Sent in, crossed my fingers and lotsa prayers. Good enuff to get noticed as a professional for overseas posting so kinda happy already so no high hopes.
This ends the complete week while we cross over to December. December is my favourite month of the year, not only because of bonus but also it's
Christmas and it's a time where miracles happen. Hope abides for 2 miracles.

Flying

I'm flying in the skies, reaching out to the highest. I will shine like the stars, burning like the sun. Huh? Can meh? Is this for real? Haha, dun dream lah. Many times, sitting here blogging away, behind the back of my mind, I thought of the risk of "failure". At every aspect, at every turning point and every new change. Pardon me, a'int preaching negativity nor pessimisticism (not sure if there's such words, never talk to dict). I'm tiking about "failure" in a positive note. Chewing on this. You know, I tend to weigh cons more than pros. Need to change that. Anyway, a risk taken in the right timing can yield the best results. Didn't lotsa entrepreneurs step out in this way? If this is the pattern towards the upward calling, then "failure" is a test we see outwardly. Sure, it'e embarrassing to fail but it's more important to learn through brainstorming and solving times than to get an easy solution. If things are so simple for our taking, then why should we even exist? We are to create, solve and contribute. Talking about this, ribena, you better get back to the slides and contribute to your company. They don't pay you for nothing, you know.

Thots on a Tues morn

Wrote something wee hours of the morning but not saved. Maybe it's not meant to be viewed. Hmm, rethinking mode. Anyway, I had the honour task of accompanying IT today cos both IT's owners are happily holidaying somewhere and the other 2 co-owners are slogging on a Tues morning. To cut the story short, IT taught me on marking territories last Sunday when IT pee-ed at every possible spot when IT was brought to another house. Rethinking mode. We do share the same mindset? Not feeling too well today. Too much rest and fun last week, I reckon. Someone commented that she's impressed with my work attitude, think it's still a far cry from my last opportunity. You choose, balancing act or in balance? It's only 9.51am. SOP, going doctor soon. Last evening, an uprising started regs marking territories. The show begins: Jnr walked out of the territory before official time cos control freak (CF) was asking for another round of meeting in demanding and last min mode. Haven't you had enuff? Jnr thought. Bravo Jnr for walking out before CF could facilitate anything. Anyway, it's close to k-off time, you know. Another 2 jnrs will soon suffer the CFness soon. FYI, 1 of the other jnr has no sense of urgency and the other, fast mode. Hmm, sure drives CF up the wall with this lovely combi. Now I know why Cf has a certain habit.....ooops, talking to me-self again. Sure sounds like marking of territories here.
However, is marking your territory so crucial at the workplace and other social settings? What I do know...................you aínt living any life unless you enjoy what you are doing now! Still in rethinking mode.
